The bible of Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Illustrated, has released it 33rd Annual top 500 list of the best in the business for 2023. And after all was said and done, Seth Rollins has taken the top spot over his former Shield partner and last year's number 1 and current WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. And a matter pf fact, that pick is followed by their former team member Jon Moxley at number 3, making this the first time former members on a team or group or faction finished 1-2-3 in the history of the list, going back to 1991.
Here's the list from 10-2:
10) Cody Rhodes
9) Josh Alexander
8) Orange Cassidy
7) Kazuchika Okada
6) MJF
5) El Hijo Del Vikingo
4) Gunther
3) Jon Moxley
2) Roman Reigns
Here are some notes:
Rollins has had a tremedous year, being crowned the inaugural World Heavyweight Champion and increasing his overall workrate while all the while being injured.
Gunther has had a history making year and very historical as he defeated Chad Gable in the main event of Raw to clinch the longest intercontinental title reign of all time, surpassing The Honky Tonk Man's previous record of 454 days. He's been having best bout matches all year, and it's only a matter of time before he's in the top spot.
Mox has had a very good year, winning the AEW World title 3 times, amid the chaos and turmoil of the CM Punk drama. He also became a defacto locker room leader and the leader of the Blackpool Combat Club while bringing a very violent (and questionably unnecessarily bloody) edge to his presentation having very high profile matches and feuds which includes this years Blood and Guts match and the Stadium Stampede match at All In London while dethroning Orange Cassidy for the AEW International title a week later.
