News has broken that the next inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2018 is none other than former 4 Time WCW World Champion and co-founder of TNA/Impact Wrestling Jeff Jarrett.
Jeff Jarrett has been in the business for over 4 decades, being the son of former wrestler and long time booker and promoter Jerry Jarrett. Beginning his career in 1986, Jarrett first came to prominence upon debuting in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in 1992. Over the next nine years, he alternated between the WWF and its main competitor, World Championship Wrestling (WCW). After WCW was purchased by the WWF in 2001, Jarrett joined the upstart World Wrestling All-Stars promotion. In 2002, Jarrett and his father co-founded NWA:TNA (now known as Impact Wrestling). After departing the promotion in 2014, Jarrett founded a new promotion, Global Force Wrestling.
A third-generation wrestler, Jarrett has held 77 total championships throughout his career, including the NWA World Heavyweight Championship six times, the WCW World Heavyweight Championship four times and the AAA Mega Championship on one occasion.
Here is what Jarrett said to NBC Sports after learning of his induction:
“It’s a humbling honor and I will be accepting it on behalf of just not myself, but my wife Karen, who has had to go through ups and downs. My dad, my stepmom, my uncle, who just passed away. My grandfather, my grandmother on the other side of my family,” Jarrett told NBC Sports.
“It’s a three generation business, so I’m accepting it for everyone in my family because it is a family business. That is something that is so humbling to me. I’m the one who got picked, but it’s really an award for the entire Jarrett family.”
Jeff Jarrett joins Bill Goldberg, The Dudley Boyz and Ivory in the WWE Hall of Fame class on WrestleMania weekend in New Orleans.
