After all is said and done, Pro Wrestling Illustrated, the Bible of pro wrestling, has picked Daniel Bryan as the Number 1 man high atop the wrestling mountain for this 365 day period. And what a period it was. After the company tried to de-push him after winning the WWE title, then having the fans will him back into the main event picture after a rushed feud with Bray Wyatt, regaining the WWE Title in the main event at WrestleMania XXX, Bryan had his WrestleMania moment, unfortunately succumbing to injury that has him on the shelf indefinitely, it's a culmination of all the obstacles he's had to overcome. He jumps in as #1, dethroning incumbent PWI 500 Top man John Cena after not even being in the top ten last year. Speaking of John Cena, he slips down to 3rd on the list, not a bad slip and is slotted just below Randy Orton, whose at Number 2 this year, his highest ranking since 2011 when he was also 2nd that year.
Here's the top 10 in Numerical order:
1) Daniel Bryan
2) Randy Orton
3) John Cena
4) AJ Styles
5) Kazuchika Okada
6) Bray Wyatt
7) Roman Reigns
8) Magnus
9) Adam Cole
10) Bully Ray
Magnus had a great breakout year. He won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in November and held it until he lost it to Eric Young the following April. He also had 2 signature matches of note, he wrestled and defeated AJ Styles and Sting in what would turn out to be their last matches in the company respectively.
Bully Ray dropped down from 4th to 10th this year. With no Aces n Eights to carry, he carried the mantle of TNA and became the most successful babyface in the company in his quest to put TNA Owner Dixie Carter through a table.
Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns round out this promising top ten list, as both became break out stars this year. Reigns will be a main eventer for years to come and Wyatt has affected the fans on a deep level that hasn't been seen in years as the fans are chanting and singing his praises as a heel. But if Wyatt doesn't start winning some of these feuds, this ranking will drop by this time next year.
